Tanzania’s Beach Holidays:
Tanzania is blessed with coastline of 1,424 km of which over 500 miles is pure white sandy and unspoiled beaches, all lapped by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. The culturally and historically significant islands of Zanzibar and Mafia are incredible destinations in themselves. Tanzania also boasts of the second largest freshwater body in world - Lake Victoria, the second deepest lake - Lake Tanganyika as well as Lake Nyasa / Malawi. Zanzibar:
Of course a visit to Zanzibar would not be complete without spending some time on one of the many secluded beaches. The pristine white sands lapped by the azure clear warm Indian Ocean are the beaches in heart of everyone’s imagination. Zanzibar is an idyllic beach holiday island with wonderful charisma, coconut palms and powder-soft coral sands washed by shimmering clear sea. Zanzibar beaches are among the best in the world and have a very special charm; views from the palm-fringed sands reveal the hand-sewn sails of traditional wooden fishing dhows, and ocean explorers discover the glorious depths of thriving coral reefs all around. The best beaches on Zanzibar Island are to the North and East, where the sun shines on luminescent clear waters in a range of striking turquoise blues, and the sand is clean and bright and fine. The Zanzibar archipelago is surrounded by rich coral reef, which protects the shoreline and also results in wide flat shallows that are invariably subject to tidal extremes.
Mafia Island:
With idyllic setting and tranquil milieu, the island of Mafia, once an important trading center between the 11th and 13th centuries, now draws tourists to it’s extraordinary coral formations and marine park. The waters of the island are splendid for swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing and sport fishing.
Pangani:
Pangani is about 50km south of Tanga in the north-eastern part of Tanzania. This quiet town is idyllically located on an estuary where the river and sea meet. Enjoy a sunset cruise along coconut plantations, relax on the beautiful ushongo beach, and see Maziwe Island Marine Reserve.
Bagamoyo:
A small town 75km north of Dar es Salaam, in the 18th and 19th centuries it was the last stop before slaves were transported to Zanzibar. It Maintains beautiful beaches, a wonderful museum and the amazing kaole ruins. The waters of the island are splendid for swimming, snorkling, scuba diving,sailing and sport fishing.
